Adam Simson explores the new R-Line trim on the Volkswagen Golf MK 7
Volkswagen have just announced the stylish new R-Line trim for the Golf.
First customer deliveries will be in March on the new 2015 registration, with prices ranging from £24,190 for the 150 hp 1.4 TSI unit, to £26,765 for the 150 hp 2.0 TDI motor.
Sitting above the GT model: Discover Navigation, a lower ride height of 10 mm on sports suspension, and PreCrash preventative occupant protection is standard equipment.
The R-Line rear spoiler, radiator grille, front bumper, rear diffuser, and 17″ alloys are all subtle clues to the exclusive trim level.
The interior receives similar treatment, too. Stainless steel pedals and front door sills highlight the sporty theme, contrasting with black lead grey inlays and door trims. Sports seats and black headlining are also standard.
There is one petrol, and one diesel engine – both have 150 hp, but the choice of a six speed manual or seven speed DSG dual clutch gearbox.
The 1.4 litre petrol unit features Volkswagen’s Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) which can deactivate two of the four cylinders for enhanced fuel economy, with a claimed combined cycle of 60.1 mpg. However, the popular 2.0 TDI engine, can return 68.9 on the combined cycle.
