A completely new Audi A4 Saloon and Avant are available to order from your local Audi centre from late summer. First customer deliveries of the saloon will be in late 2015, while the Avant will arrive in 2016.
The new Audi A4 and A4 Avant will launch with seven engines to choose from – three TFSI and four TDI motors, ranging from 150 hp to 272 hp output. All engines have an increase in efficiency, a drop in fuel consumption, combined with further responsiveness and refinement.
A completely new drivetrain and chassis has been developed for the new Audi A4 and A4 Avant. All gearbox options have been redesigned and the seven-speed S tronic is now available on front-wheel drive models. The S tronic and eight-speed tiptronic transmissions also come with a fuel-saving freewheeling function. Audi will offer the most powerful TDI version with a sport differential on the rear axle as an option from 2016.
The handling of the new A4 is vastly improved. While a smoother ride is promised, feel and tracking is not compromised. A redeveloped five-link axle and electromechanical power steering take care of handling performance and dynamic steering is available as an option. This system features a variable ratio steering rack, which alters weighting according to the car’s speed and steering angle, and suspension with adjustable shock absorbers can be altered for sports or comfort by Audi drive select.
Class leading driver assistance and safety systems are available on the A4. Audi active lane assist helps drivers to stay in lane and Stop&Go adaptive cruise control including traffic-jam assist eases driving in slow-moving traffic. The traffic-jam control strategy takes into account road markings and traffic ahead. Also available are: parking assist, rear cross-traffic assist, exit warning, collision avoidance assist, turn assist and camera-based traffic-sign recognition.
Standard equipment is more comprehensive than predecessors – including: 17-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights, Audi smartphone interface, keyless go, Bluetooth interface, Audi drive select, 7-inch MMI colour display and three-zone climate control.
First seen on the MK 3 Audi TT, the A4 is available with the optional Audi virtual cockpit – a fully digital combination instrument, featuring a 12.3-inch LCD screen.
The MMI control centre is a high-end infotainment system, featuring MMI Navigation plus with MMI touch and touchpad allowing the driver the ability to zoom in and out and enter characters via a rotary controller. A new intelligent voice-control system is said to understand everyday commands, such as “I want to call Peter Miller.”
The Audi smartphone interface is a standard feature, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto platforms. Smartphone contacts and information such as navigation mapping can be displayed on the MMI screen. The premium Sound System by Bang & Olufsen is available with innovative 3D sound.
