I fitted a set of Hankook Ventus Prime 2 tyres to the front axle of the Z3 last year and although they seemed decent enough, the real difference occurred when I matched the rear tyres last month.
I have only covered around 200 miles on the rear set, but on a good run with a wide variety of road types and surfaces, on my recent trip to the Lake District. Response is good and feels sharp on turn in.
Tyre roar is a little high, but NVH levels are never the most peaceful in a soft top with the roof up, anyway. Otherwise, the ride is very smooth and comfortable. Even over rough surfaces, there is a suppleness which dampens out the bangs and crashes on top of the already forgiving chassis set up; I am thinking of stiffening the car up at some point, but that’s more to do with remedying the dynamics mid corner.
I haven’t tested these tyres in the wet and nor will I, because the car is not used in wet conditions. However, dry grip is exceptional. Even pushing a little harder, it takes some effort to coax the back end of the car to step out of line.
I highly recommend these tyres which are a great high quality product from the premium spectrum of manufactures, and can be had for a bargain on TyreLeader.
